Kennedy High School and a graduate of The Ohio Center for Broadcasting. His radio career started in December 1982 at WJW AM850 as the overnight technical engineer and producer of the morni[...] The Marty Allen Show Marty Allen is a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School and a graduate of The Ohio Center for Broadcasting. His radio career started in December 1982 at WJW AM850 as the overnight technical engineer and producer of the morning news. Soon he was offered the production assistant position at WJW AM850. The station was owned by Cleveland Browns football owner Art Modell’s Lake Erie Radio Company. Marty soon found himself producing programs for radio legends Merle Pollis and Joel Rose. In 1985, Lake Erie Radio bought stations 3WE and WDOK where Marty became assistant production director and talk show producer for Merle Pollis and Joel Rose. In 1987, Lake Erie Radio sold to Ambresia and made staff changes. Talk hosts Merle Pollis and Joel Rose moved on to talk giant WERE and they quickly brought Marty on, as producer of their morning show. WERE was where he met Mr. Know It All, Mike Trivisonno, who was doing sports updates on the WGCL morning show. During his tenure at WERE, Marty was promoted to production director, morning show host, public service director and executive producer. This was the time where Marty became very talented at multitasking! In 1991, Los Angeles Lakers superstar, Magic Johnson announced he had the AIDS virus. It was then that Mike Trivisonno approached Marty and asked him to voice a tribute to Magic. It was the opportunity that Mike Trivisonno gave Marty to showcase this talent on the rock station WNCX where Triv was doing morning sports updates. In the spring of 1994, 3WE called Marty and asked if he was interested in rejoining the station as a producer for Sportsline, the show made famous by talk legend Pete Franklin. Asking if he knew Mr. Know It All, Marty offered to get in touch with him. Triv got his tryout and the station offered him a contract. 3WE asked what Triv needed to make his show a success and he quickly said “I need Marty Allen”. Sportsline debuted in June of 1994 and Marty signed on in August. 3WE became WTAM radio and over the next 15 years the Mike Trivisonno Show broke all kinds of ratings records in the country with 35 #1 books.
